4 WAYS TO CHANGE YOUR MONEY MINDSET

When I was a kid my mom told me to become a plastic surgeon when I grew up so that I could "fix" the wrinkles on her face and the loose skin on her belly. Even at that age, I knew she was off her rocker and not because she wanted me to become a plastic surgeon but because I thought my mom was beautiful. But "fixing" her stretch marks had nothing to do with the real reason she wanted this for me. What she so deeply wanted, was for me to grow up, get a good job, and never have to worry about money.  And that was going to take great grades, years of school, and hard work.

So I learned at the ripe old age of 7 that making money was going to be hard. Well, at least that was the birth of the story that I have been telling myself for years and years. I'm going to venture a guess that somewhere in your subconscious, you've been telling yourself that too. Your story might have different words in it. But the message is the same - making money is hard work.

"Work hard" and you will land a good job.

"Work hard" and you will get you into a good school,

"Work hard" and you will get a good job, and make good money.

"Work hard" if you want to make that team, ace that test, or land that next promotion.

We've been taught that working hard IS the way to freedom

Now, what if I told you that "working hard" is simply the story we've been telling ourselves, and in some cases, for generations? And what if I told you that it is nothing but your subconscious mind telling you this story over and over again. So what do you think happens when you look at the goals you've set and the business you're building on your pathway to freedom? It shows up hard.

Guess What? All this time, we've been thinking that making money is hard and it's been a big fat lie!

You may not believe me right now. And that is NORMAL. Your brain isn’t wired this way, yet. Most likely, you haven't done the work to rewire this part of your brain and today I'm going to challenge you to start. Here are 4 quick steps that will loosen the grip of the neural pathways set to remind you that making money is hard

#1. Acknowledge that it's there.

Write down the things that are "hard" for you on this pathway to success. Is it writing copy, building an offer, writing a sales page? Maybe it's finding the time, growing your following, or making consistent sales. What feels hard or impossible?

#2. Change your language when it sneaks up.

"I can't do this, it's too hard" to "I am choosing" or "not choosing" to do this.... This should make you feel uncomfortable. I am choosing not to grow my following. I am choosing not to build a sales pages so that people can pay for the course I just built. I am choosing to not build an offer so that no one can pay me. {please tell me this sounds ridiculous to you}

#3. Choose a new language that begins to rewire your brain.

I am, I do, I have. Or start using mantras daily like "making money is fun" and "making money is easy".

#4. Go deeper.

Ask yourself {and answer} the following questions: "What part of making money is hard? Is it the accepting part? Is it the asking part? Is it the "work" part? What makes it hard? Is it guilt? Is it embarrassing? Is it worthiness? Is it that you don't know something yet? Is it that you've never done it before? All of these things can be learned, changed, and achieved.

For one week I want you to simply pay attention to the thoughts in your brain that sneak up and say "this is hard". When they do, go through the steps and you'll be on your way to a complete brain overhaul. You got this!
