THAT TIME I MANIFESTED 90s HEARTTHROB DEVON SAWA
I was in grade 6, at the ripe old age 12 when I asked my mom to let me cut my hair. My parents were pretty lax about this kind of thing, if they were raising me today I would be the seven-year-old with rainbow coloured hair, for sure. Sadly, when I cut off all my hair into what I thought was going to be the most adorable Drew Barrymore pixie cut ever, it looked more like Devon Sawa’s hair in Casper. In case you’re wondering how I know this, it’s because I had the biggest 90s crush on Devon Sawa and there was a poster on my wall. If you want to talk about manifestations gone wrong… this would be one of them).
Needless to say, I have never, one time, ever cut my hair this short again. I learned some really hard lessons in that moment. #1. I look terrible as a boy. #2. No matter how many tears you cry, your hair will not grow back immediately. And finally #3. Pixie/mushroom cuts just don’t work for me.
See here's the thing, sometimes we have to try it out to know if it's going to work or not. Fun fact, most of the time, it wont. Sometimes we have to cut our hair so short, cry ourselves into oblivion, and swear by the grace of God that we will never return to grade 6 again until our hair grows back! But you do go back to grade 6, don't you?
On this journey of entrepreneurship, you will 100% make some crazy mistakes. Ones that you will be sure you will never recover from. But I can promise you this, you will recover from them. In fact, these are the moments, where you will learn lessons with such clarity, that not only will you never make them again but you will be able to teach others with the deepest seeded passion on how not to do it as well.
So, today I challenge you to find your brave bone, and do one tiny thing that you have been putting off, avoiding, or flat out refusing to do because you are afraid it won’t work and then tell me about it so that I can support the hell out of you!
